IndiaAsha is actively involved with promoting
Education, Civic Duties and Primitive Health Care.
This year, on top of usual
projects of assisting with Fees and conducting health camps, IndiaAsha
has chosen following two additional projects on experimental basis:
Building Basic Skills
for "Aadivasi School Children" in the region of "Satpuda":
Satpuda region is the north western part of Maharashtra. While
Maharashtra is primararily well developed, this part lacks far
behind as compare to rest of the Maharashtra. IndiaAsha is trying
to promot individual skills building for students from the area
to help them learn the "survival skills". Focus is to
help students analyze their skill set to lead to better living
standards.
Well skilled volunteers
are involved from Jaihind college of Arts, Science and Commerce,
Dhule (staff of the college). There will be two camps in one year
at central locations. First camp to be conducted around September
2003 and second camp to be conducted in Summer 2004. Group of
40 students will be chosen for each camp. Same group of students
will be attending follow up camp. Volunteers will personally involve
with three full day sessions of attitude and aptitude testing,
promoting self sufficiency concept that is beyond primitive farming
viz. Agro forestry, Farm machienary supply and repair, understanding
finanancials behind loans, etc. Focus is to make student aware
the issues that affects life directly.
Civic Responsibilities:
An experimental project to be conducted at Jaihind College of
Arts, Science and Commerce, Dhule. Students will be divided into
several groups (with approximately 50 students in each group).
Each group will be assigned a social task viz. keeping college
campus litter free, using waste water of drinking tap and route
it to build beautiful landscape in college, Promoting awareness
campaign in local public about local issues to make local leader
accountable for local results, etc. Winners will be selected at
the end of the year. One lecturer will be assigned to each group
to help them with their issues and guide them as required.
IndiaAsha is also interested
in working on following projects:
Primitive / Preventive Health Care
1. Building AIDS awareness campaign
2. Blood group check up (to make blood donation an easy process)
3. Nutrition awareness Campaign
Civic Duties
1. Encouragement for enrolling as Voter for all eligible voters
2. Encouragement for actual voting (at local as well as national
level)
3. Building awareness in public for "government servents" being
public servants and making them accountable for their responsibilities.
4. Building awareness in public that government properties are
built using public Tax money and making people use government
properties as "their own properties" (with proper care). Not to
destroy the properties, etc.
5. Promoting "I may end up giving bribes, BUT I WILL NOT ACCEPT
ANY BRIBES". IndiaAsha believe by doing so, at least one person
is now "no longer can be corrupt".
6. Promoting impact of environment of daily life and promoting
preservance of environment.

ideas!
We already have a small
team of dedicated volunteers for this. With the help of local
volunteers, we plan to expand the concept through out India. We
are looking to grow and help communities.
